UK artist Zulf is phenomenal in his craft, creating truly beautiful, luminescent monochromatic portraits of women. There is this incredible grace within his work and the women he portrays. A moment of emotion frozen in time, sensual and empowering. It is as though Zulf works inside-out and back-to-front and like an illusion, my mind literally has a hard time wrapping itself around the magnificence of it all.
Tell us a little about your background. When were you born? Where did you grow up? Did art play a significant role in your childhood? I was born in Portsmouth in the UK, and grew up in London. The only thing I could ever focus on was Art, it was pretty much the only subject I liked in school, it was the only thing I could concentrate on.
Did you delve straight into the world of art after high school or did you come to it later in your life? In either case, what exactly inspired you to pursue art as a career? Once I left school I became a sign maker and would spend the next 34 years within that industry... now and then I'd maybe do the odd portrait but nothing major. .. In 2013 a friend of mine posted pic of a wall with black silhouette portraits on it on his Facebook page, believe it or not that actually spawned my love for creating Art again... From this point onwards I knew that I was to become a full-time Artist...
Which tools and mediums do you use and or prefer? Do you have a set process for creating your work? This is a good question, I actually use mainly makeup brushes as my technique is dry brush.... I kinda do have a certain way I create but at the same time I tend to forget exactly how I've done a certain piece but, that adds to the excitement of creating something new.
What is your art in relation to your heart? Tell us your why. What does it all mean to you? Emotions! I love painting emotions, I want people to feel my Creations. Art helps me with my Anxieties and my condition, I paint women because I like to show their strengths and grace, I want them to know they're stronger than they think.
What are your thoughts on where your art began, to what it has now become? Well as a kid I was in a crew, we were street Artists, graffiti etc but I was mainly an infiller, blending colours etc, but I always had a thing for drawing faces.. I now know that's why I'm a Portrait Artist to this day.

Anything you would like to add? What is up next for you that we should look out for? I would love to have my own Exhibition that's a Big Dream of mine... I'm going to try and get a bit more into figurative pieces so keep your eyes peeled..
Where can we find you?
What is one pro-tip lesson you have learned from your past as an artist? Be the best you can be for You! Never compare yourself to someone else and to only be in competition with yourself .
What is your one boss-tip for all women to be true to themselves and live their best lives? This is a tough one! I would have to say, love yourself so deep and know that you are enough, know that you can be whoever you want to be in all sectors of life.
