“She holds a fiery vigil by the shadows of the moon with quiet authority, beauty and grace. Her senses are heightened and tingle with pleasure as her intuition guides her fearlessly through the darkness with fierce intention. She was born of power and passion and with unapologetic boldness and desire. She will seize the night in her claws, for the time is now, and she knows it belongs to her.” - Sloane - Tanya Marie Reeves.

Sloane is a unisex name of Irish, Celtic and Gaelic origins. The meaning ultimately translating as powerful warrior, protector.

The panther is powerful and protective. It symbolises courage and strength and is a fierce guardian. The panther is the symbol of the mother, and the feminine, with acute sensitivity to both emotions and touch, its smooth sensual coat is connected with sexuality. Also a symbol of the dark moon and the power of the night signifying darkness, death and rebirth. This totem animal encourages us to understand the power within the shadows, to acknowledge and help eliminate our fear of the dark and unknown.

Individuals who have this animal totem, are usually highly intuitive and artistically inclined. If panther has appeared in your life, it is time to release your passions, live your dreams, discover your desires and begin a new chapter in your life. This spirit animal welcomes you to expand your awareness, eliminate fears and become a whole new person as you are guided and protected.

Driving Force

Through extraordinary art with exceptional style, I am an artist dedicated to celebrating and empowering women by creating strong, bold and beautiful paintings, choreographed with passion, abstract line and saturated colour. I take a woman’s inner strength and I bring it bolstering to the surface, heightening her physical prowess, celebrating her diversity, revelling in her beauty and sexuality, revealing her sensuality, her secrets and mystery. And most significantly, saluting her confidence, heart and spirited strength of character.

Inspiration and Work in Progress

It’s tough sometimes, you know, to power through. To find your way in the dark. To learn and grow and accept yourself and improve your life and live in the moment and plan for the future and feel the feelings and think the thoughts and change your mindset and value the now and remember the lessons and live your truth and make ends meet and pay the bills and make the choices and sleep enough and remember to play and to put in the work… AND ALL. OF. THE. THINGS!!!

I began this artwork very differently; with assorted, irregular cubic inch squares of red fabric. That was it. I had no pose to work with, no chosen canvas, I didn’t even know what I was actually working on... I believe my inspiration began just by wanting to fit the pieces together, one by one until they began to make sense. I didn’t want this lady to be planned out (that sooooooooo had not been working for me lately), I wanted to have the intention and focus of the moment, each choice simply leading to the next.

I absolutely love, love, loved creating this fiery, feline beauty! Working with mixed media (specifically the richness, texture and colour of fabric), has once again brought me back with vigour from the deep dark depths of… well… wherever the hell I have spent the past year seemingly void of creative insight.
