About Reyna
“She understood peace did not mean the noise would stop. She realised chaos and circumstance would not alter for her. Ah, but she had learnt she could overcome every challenge thrown her way. She could hold her own. She could step aside from the noise, the chaos, the trouble, and be still. She knew with all her heart that it was possible to be at peace within herself and rule her own destiny.” Reyna by Tanya Marie Reeves
The Name

About
The past few months have been incredibly challenging for me, to say the least. Without drowning in detail, 2019 flipped my world upside down. Firstly, with my bringing an end to a self-damaging long-term relationship, then choosing to close down my cherished art gallery and ultimately begin rebuilding a new life independently for me and my children. To say the least, life has been the proverbial roller-coaster ride, and at times I have truly struggled to find my way. But for the first time in many years I finally feel like I‘ve got this! I’m not saying I don’t have a long way to go, or more lessons to be learned, but I am super proud of the woman I am and how far I have come.
A huge part of my journey has been realising self-acceptance. Now, I am nowhere near the end of this journey, self-love is no easy feat, but I am learning to just sit with who I am. Discovering how to disentangle myself from everything life can throw at me and simply be.
I’m sharing this with you because “Reyna” came about completely inspired by this self-revelation. I wanted to recreate change within my work as well as my life, yet without altering the basic disposition of who I am and what I do. I wanted to capture presence within the art.
My aim was to minimalise, and tone down the usual clamour. I wanted to portray my ladies beautiful and raw, owning their self-being, the brilliant essence of the Goddesses they truly are shining through. To give every woman the courage to accept the unique inner beauty which lies within themselves. That's you.Thank you with Love
I would also like to shout out to my baby sister Emma, for without her wisdom, love and never-faltering support, I could not have braved the road ahead. To my children Heaven and Ripley for being the loves of my life and braving (or being dragged along, lol) the road with me. And a special mention to my wonderful friend and healer Donna-Lee who has inspired me from the day we met and continues to teach me while travelling her own bumpy road. Love you all x.
